Anti-Pirasy,
18. There has been little of event during the period under review, but failured to report in accordance with the «/T Vommunication Scheme became so numerous that i was forced to issue a strongly worded remonstrance to all shipping companies working the scheme. The China Navigation Company (Rossre Butterfield & Swire) are the principal offenders. It i true that this company has more ships conserned than the others, but a percentage of failures gives approximately the sans figures, The .B. MUINAN, which gave trouble during February, vide paragraphs 15 and 18 to 81 of my h.k. 960 of 12th March 1935, continued to fail to communicate, and the Agents (Xenars Sutterfield and Swire) are appointing a */T operator to her.

the "A" Class by the Superintending sngineer, Hr F. 1. Jamas (who served as wngineer Lieutenant Commander, Royal Naval deserve in K.M.S. TRIUMPH at the capture of Tsingtao in 1914). Mr Jason
pointed out the alterations which are proposed to be carried out in these ships to render them "pirate-proof",
TUKOCHOK, these alterations are very extensive and will sost about $28,000, in the other ships about $ 5,000 each.

12. The Anti-Piracy Officer was also invited by the Xanager of the Osaka Shosen Kaisha (kr 7. Nakamura) to inspect the 3.5. CANTON MARU and DALI HARU. The former ship in of fairly recent construction and was built with the idea of being pirate proof. The bridge, officer's cabins, and ≥/f office form a oitadel
which can be completely isolated from let Glass aquomodation if
desired. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd olass se ommodations are all self
contained and are not inter communion ting. Guards are seldom
carried and would appear to be superfluous as the grilling is so
efficient.
